P.S.: For everyone's convenience, I copy below the text with the
original qualitative study idea as described in the proposal:
RQ4.1) How are health and care-giving/receiving defined and perceived by
older men and women and
what health outcomes and resources are most meaningful for them? This RQ
will explore the perceptions
of older people with respect to wellbeing in older ages (e.g. importance
of health, function, care, autonomy
and dignity) and which health outcomes and resources (e.g. material,
social capital) matter the most for
ageing well and caring. In-depth semi-structured interviews will be
conducted with 30 persons aged 60+ in
each country: Austria, Sweden and Canada (Task 4.1). Cross-national
comparisons will further augment
understandings of similarities and differences across cultures.
Purposive sampling will maximize variation of
social determinants (e.g. age, SEP) and experience (e.g. caregiver or
recipient, with or without illness). A semistructured
interview guide will be developed and pilot-tested, building on findings
from WPs1-2 and feedback
from our SB. We will elicit detailed views on preliminary
findings/policy messages from WPs1-3, with a focus
on participant views about how sex/gender may affect connections between
SEP and other characteristics,
and quality of life and ageing well. Interview content will be analysed
using the framework method (Task
4.2). This method provides a systematic yet pragmatic approach to
qualitative content analysis that identifies
similarities, differences and defines relationships (see Parts D and F
for ethics, interviews and sampling).
