Dear all,

Thank you for this Stefania.
Some background, which I think is needed and helpful to read the results
and to have an efficient discussion on this:

i) we have been using transitions into widowhood till now, but we were
not sure if these transitions were not being captured already by the
within effect (remember, this is the change of state for the same
individual).
@ Stefan, Afshin and Johan: your thoughts on whether we need this
transition variable.
The results now circulated assume that we don't need this transition
variable (as this is captured by the within effect) and we thus use a
binary for being in a partnership.
The variable reference changed, which why the coefficients for
*B__in_part*have the opposite sign. See also that W_in_part now has a
negative sign as well.

ii) we checked for the possibility that men are a very self-selected
group in our sample, due to differences in life-expectancy, by breaking
down the results by age. Note: we use the binary variable mentioned above.

iii) We also checked for possible country clusters or "care regimes" and
this is also what is displayed in the other MS Word files. Note: we use
the binary variable mentioned above.

Looking forward to the discussion tomorrow.

Best wishes,
Ricardo
