Dear all,
I think these are all valid points. The first point - on whether to go wide or narrow when it comes to selecting what social determinants to include in our models- is of crucial importance, and I think we will have to come back to that. It would be nice to hear Ms Littmans suggestions on how to think about this. So, maybe you could ask her about that.
All the best,
Stefan

Ämne: [Futuregen] Further contacts with SB members who could not attend kick-off
Dear all,
I'm back from vacations and I've established some contacts with two SB members who were not present at the meeting.
I've contacted Ms Schindler (Austrian Ministry of Health) for a working lunch to brief her on the project and I'm waiting for her reply.
I've also been in contact with Ms Littmann (Swiss Insurance Office) over e-mail regarding the minutes of the kick-off meeting. Here is what she sent back as questions/comments (I've edited the text as she also included information about her health condition, which I left out):
"Nevertheless I checked all documents you have sent. When I read the minutes, it seemed to be very clear, that the topic and the project (esp. the comparable datasets) get very complex, when you include all possible factors. On the other hand the results are perhaps not really satisfying, when you focus too strong on a small range of factors.
Especially in relation to context factors and life choices. Who is responsible for the methodological questions and defining the datasets for the cross-country comparisons ? Due to the minutes it was not a very intensive discussion on this part.
(...)
My last question refers to slide 8 of the presentation: The diagram shows that with increasing age the informal care decreases (for men and women), correct? Do you want to go in the same direction and try to explain the differences between the countries?
Just to understand, how you want to get results in this project . . . .
:-)"
I will have a phone call next Friday and wanted to touch base with you before, in case you have any inputs on her questions.
Thanks in advance.
Best wishes,
Ricardo
