Dear all,
I'm re-sending the e-mail where we discussed what we would present at
the SB meeting in May, with the additions from Stefan and Susan in the
text below.
This will be useful today to check where we stand. Please reply to this
e-mail if I forgot anything.
Best wishes,
Ricardo

Dear all,
We are still some time from the SB meeting but I would like us to start
thinking about it and what we would want to present and have inputs from
the SB. This also gives us a very good “to do” list till the SB.
Here is a first step for this with some ideas. I would ask you to
comment on these and/or propose changes please. Please bear in mind that
for WPs 1 and 3 these are merely suggestions.
Data Navigator: to have the pilot ready, which will consist of graphic
information trends per gender and SEC for two “outcome” variables: ADLs
and formal care use. For formal care use we might also include a cohort
graph.
WP1: to present and have feedback on the first results of the cohort
analysis for ADLs/IADLs [This could be more interesting and more
relevant for feedback from SB members than the review – just a
suggestion].
Stefan added: From WP1, I would probably like to share some preliminary
results from the scoping review as well - more as a part of the
background, than as a point of discussion - as the results suggest great
plasticity both in the magnitude of the sex differences in disabilities
and in the role played by socioeconomics in explaining the observed sex
differences.
WP2: to present the results of the analysis on marital status/living
arrangements and the effects on care use.
WP3: to present the results of the review on methods – the challenge
here might be to entice a discussion from a heterogenous group of people
with different backgrounds on methods. Ideas?
Susan added: I think the WP3 group could do a very brief presentation of
methods, highlighting why this matters along with results. We may also
be able to present a testing of the various methods using CLSA data
which would give results the SB could use to grab hold of to think about
and give us advice on policy implications. Please time our part to
coincide with when Andreas Zooms in.
WP3: to present to SB the qualitative study (scope, sample and
questions) for possible feedback on how to improve it – NOTE: we will
likely have the qualitative study already submitted to Ethics at that
stage, as discussed during the last zoom.
We could take this further in the next zoom, but I would really like us
to advance already via e-mail, so please feel free to react to the
above.
Looking forward to your replies!
Best wishes,
Ricardo
