Dear Eszter, dear all,
I hope all is well with you and that the Viennese autumn is treating you well. We were note entirely sure about what "tone" to use in the text for the newsletter. Would something like this work?
"On average, older women tend to have worse health than older men. It has been suggested that this empirical regularity can be, partly or wholly, attributed to differences in social conditions. In our first study, we set out to do a scoping review of the literature to find out to what extent sex differences in functional health among older adults could be attributed to socioeconomic conditions. While our search strategy yielded more than 7500 hits, it soon became clear that very few studies explicitly analyzed the role of socioeconomic conditions in shaping sex differences in physical function among older adults. Yet, several studies with other aims still contain the information necessary to estimate the impact of socioeconomic conditions on sex differences in late life health. We are now combing through the search results, trying to identify all the papers containing the relevant information, regardless of the explicit aim of the studies. In parallel, we have started working on the design of the second study of the work package, with the aim of tracking sex differences in the trajectories of functional health decline across subsequent birth cohorts. The results of this study will reveal whether the sex differences in physical function among older adults in Europe and Canada are increasing or decreasing over time."
All the best,
Stefan

Ämne: Input for FUTUREGEN newsletter
Dear Susan and Stefan,
We are in the process of preparing our first FUTUREGEN newsletter for which we would like to ask for your input.
The newsletter will be sent only to the Sounding Board members with the purpose to inform them of the progress we made in each WP. For this, we would need a short paragraph (max 8 lines) from you describing the work done so far in your respective WP (WP1 and 3). We will do the same for WP2.
We aim to have the newsletter ready end of next week so if you could send me your lines by early next week that would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Best wishes,
Eszter
